Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter. She was involved in a major bus accident in 1925, and taught herself to paint as she was recovering. She discovered about her sexuality by portraying her ancestry as binary opposites. She later came out as bisexual. She was never ashamed of being bisexual. She played a major role in feminism and defied gender stereotypes. She refused to alter her features for the beauty standards of the society. Her self portraits often depicted about topics which were considered as forbidden to talk about in the 1900s. She talked about pain, female sexuality, beauty standards, etc through her works. She even dressed like a man in family portraits. Even though she dressed like a man for some of the family portraits, she was not afraid to be a woman. She used to wear bright and colourful dresses, adorning her hair with flowers.
